Franciscus Diaba - Vice President and Attorney for the NBA
Experienced in intellectual property law, transactions, and commercial law, Franciscus Ladejola Diaba serves as the vice president and assistant general counsel for the National Basketball Association in New York. Previously, Franciscus Ladejola Diaba was an intellectual property attorney for Johnson & Johnson in New Brunswick, New Jersey. While at J & J, he provided legal representation in cloud services and information technology. In addition, he negotiated contracts for software as a service and software licensing, as well as non-disclosure and infrastructure agreements.
Earlier, Franciscus Diaba focused on intellectual property law for two international firms, Kramer Levin Naftalis & Frankel and Ropes and Gray. Before entering the legal profession, he was an engineer for General Motors.
Mr. Diaba studied drama at Harvard University and graduated with a bachelor of science degree in mechanical engineering, where he made the dean’s list. Later, he earned his law degree from the University of New Hampshire in Concord. While at UNH, Mr. Diaba was president of the Black Law Students Association and was selected as the commencement speaker.
